Piramidi za Giza ni kati ya majengo yanayojulikana zaidi duniani. Pamoja na mava mengine ni sehemu ya makaburi ya Giza yaliyokuwa mahali pa kuzika wafalme wa Misri na wakubwa wa milki yao kwa muda wa miaka 2500.

Ziko kando ya bonde la mto Nile, karibu na mji wa Giza takriban kilometa 15 kutoka Kairo, mji mkuu wa Misri.

Historia ya maeneo ya makaburi ya Giza kwa jumla

Makaburi ya kwanza yalijengwa huko tangu chanzo cha milki ya Misri ya Kale takriban miaka 3,000 KK.

Wakati wa nasaba ya 4 ya Misri eneo la makaburi hayo liliongezeka sifa kwa sababu wafalme Kheops, Khefren na Mykerinos waliamua kujenga huko piramidi kwa ajili ya makaburi yao wenyewe.

Kutokana na ujenzi wa makaburi ya kifalme ndugu wa familia zao na maafisa wa juu walizikwa huko pia hadi mwisho wa nasaba ya 7 ya Misri.

Baada ya hapo na kwa sababu ya kuhamishwa kwa mji mkuu wa milki kwenye kusini ya nchi umuhimu wa eneo la makaburi ya Giza ulipungua. Mazishi ya maana yalitokea tena wakati wa nasaba za mwisho za Misri, katika vipindi vya kuvamiwa na Uajemi.

Piramidi kubwa na Sfinksi

Eneo la makaburi ya Giza hujulikana hasa kutokana na piramidi kubwa pamoja na sfinksi kubwa zilizokuwa maarufu tayari katika nyakati za kale. Mwanahistoria wa Ugiriki wa Kale aliyeitwa Herodoti alizihesabu kati ya Maajabu Saba ya Dunia na tangu siku zile miaka 2,500 iliyopita zilitembelewa na watalii.

Piramidi tatu kubwa zinajulikana kufuatana na majina ya Kigiriki ya mafarao au wafalme wa Misri waliozikwa ndani yao: piramidi za Kheops, Khefren na Mykerinos. Piramidi za Kheops na Khefren ziko karibu kimo moja, ile ya Kheops ni kubwa kidogo lakini ile ya Khefren inaonekana kubwa kwa macho kwa sababu imejengwa juu ya ardhi ya juu kiasi kwa hiyo kwa macho ya mtazamaji inafika juu zaidi.

Piramidi hizo zote hazikukaa peke yake bali zilijengwa pamoja na majengo ya kando.

  • Kila piramidi ilikuwa na mahekalu mawili ambako makuhani walitoa sadaka kwa ajili ya roho za mafarao marehemu peponi. Hekalu 1a kwanza lilijengwa mbali kidogo, kwenye chanzo cha barabara ya maandamano yaliyoendelea hadi hekalu la pili karibu na piramidi. Njia hizo za maandamano zilitumiwa hasa wakati wa sherehe za kumkumbuka farao.
  • Kwa kawaida malkia (wake wa farao) walizikwa katika piramidi ndogo au makaburi mengine kando ya piramidi kubwa. Piramidi za Kheops na Mykerinus huwa na piramidi 3 za malkia wa kila mfalme. Kwenye piramidi za Khefren hakuna makaburi ya malkia yaliyotambuliwa.

Historia ya baadaye

Tangu siku za kale watu walichukua mawe kutoka majengo ya Misri kwa kuyatumia katika majengo ya nyakati zao. Hii ndiyo sababu ya kwamba kimo cha piramidi kimepunga na hasa mawe mazuri yaliyofunika nyuso za piramidi yamepotea.

Katika karne ya 12 BK mtawala wa Misri al-Malek al-Aziz Othman ben Yusuf alijaribu kubomoa piramidi akizitazama kama ushahidi wa upagani wa kale. Wafanyakazi walianza kukata mawe kutoka piramidi ndogo ya Mykerinos lakini ikaonekana ya kwamba kazi ya kubomoa labda ingekuwa ghali sawa na kujenga. Baada ya miezi kadhaa shughuli hizo zilisimamishwa na hadi leo kuna pengo katika ukuta wa kaskazini.

They shut the place by 4:30 PM local time. And you should dedicate at least 2-3 hours to see the pyramids closely and enjoy the place. Try and reach the place accordingly.

The Great Pyramid of Giza it's the oldest and it is also the only one to remain largely intact. The three massive Pyramids were built by armies of Hebrew slaves for the glory of the Pharaohs of Egypt.

If you go past the sphinx to where they usually hold the light and sound show, you can see all the 9 pyramids in a row (yes, there's 9, though 6 are smaller than the three big ones!)
